Ridley Scott, Bernardo Bertolucci, Andrej Tarkovsky, Anthony Minghella, Marc Forster, Franco Zeffirelli, Chris Weitz are some of the most famous directors who brought their cameras in our beautiful territory.<\/p>

Lights, cameras, action!… Where?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

We invite you to retrace the places where the scenes that have made entire generations vibrate were filmed. Siena, Pienza, Montalcino, Bagno Vignoni, Montepulciano, Il Chianti.<\/p>

The Val d’Orcia: a cinematic symbol.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

The Val d’Orcia has been the undisputed star of many international films due to its unique atmosphere. The Oscar-winning film The English Patient (1996) immortalized these lands with unforgettable scenes. Filming among the golden fields and typical cypresses made the valley a world icon. Ridley Scott’s The Gladiator (2000) also chose the Val d’Orcia for one of its most touching scenes: the protagonist Maximus Decimus Meridius walks through the Elysian Fields, actually the hills of Pienza and San Quirico d’Orcia.<\/p>

Montepulciano: the gothic charm of the village<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Montepulciano became famous among fans of the Twilight saga thanks to New Moon (2009). The medieval village hosted the dramatic final scene in which Bella runs into the main square to stop Edward, right during the celebration of St. Mark’s Day. The Gothic charm of its streets and the majestic Town Hall added a touch of magic to the film.<\/p>

Montalcino and the Brunello vineyards<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Montalcino, Land of Brunello, is often chosen by filmmakers to represent the essence of the Tuscan landscape. Although less frequently used than other nearby locations, the area has inspired numerous documentaries and commercials, thanks to its spectacular vineyards and unspoiled village atmosphere.<\/p>

Buonconvento: a small medieval gem<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Buonconvento, with its authentic character and well-preserved medieval walls, is a perfect location for productions seeking an intimate and historic atmosphere. It has been used in lesser-known Italian films that wanted to celebrate the deep connection between history and landscape.<\/p>

Chianti: between fine wines and dreamy hillsides<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Chianti, with its rolling hills dotted with vineyards and farmhouses, has been the stage for films such as Under the sun of Tuscany (2003). This romantic film showed the region’s more poetic and dreamy side, inspiring viewers from all over the world to visit. The views of Chianti tell a story of timeless beauty, perfect for the silver screen.<\/p>

Siena: City of the Palio, an open-air museum<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Quantum of Solace (2008) starring Daniel Craig was filmed in part in Siena. The most iconic scene is the adrenaline-pumping chase sequence during the Palio…. But beware you may not find all the manhole cover or escape door. Cinema does not always reflect the exact reality \ud83d\ude06<\/p>
